Automatically close/unassign reviewer tasks if the deadline is missed
We find that a percentage of our reviewers fail to report, despite accepting the invitation and getting various reminders. To save the articles getting held up for too long in these cases, it would be very useful to have a way to automatically close the task and unassign the reviewer x days after the deadline so that the editors are prompted to invite new people. (Where x can be set by the journal.) Ideally it would work in a similar way to the 'auto-decline' setting on the Invite step.
This would really help in avoiding papers pending for long term with reviewers. Ease the follow up for journal offices.
This is a really helpful feature and Editorial Manager already has this feature.
Hi All,
Thank you so much for the feedback. I have kept an eye on this idea and appreciate the comments. While we don't have immediate plans to make updates in this area I can definitely see the value and will bring it up as an item for future consideration.
Warmest Regards,
Sven
I'm desperate for you to add this functionality! A number of my journals really suffer from this problem and valuable time is lost with manual workarounds.
We can already do this in Editorial Manager - it would be useful to have the same functionality for my ScholarOne journal!
This feature would be extremely helpful in avoiding seriously long delays due to agreed reviewers never submitting their reviews.
This would be so useful! Currently, I have to create a workaround using various emails and then manually unassign/close the review. Please add this functionality!
Please create this! Would be game changing!
Will this catch / remedy the cases as welll, where the review has been started but not completed (usually because a required question was not filled in, and the warning was overlooked). We dont want these to be closed, the reviewer needs to be informed and receive guidance about the final step.
This would be an extremely helpful addition!
