Revisions shouldn't "expire" on deadline

As a non-journal, we still want authors to submit their revisions, even if the deadline we set has passed! Ideally this would work just like the submit workflow, with authors still able to do overdue submission of revisions.

I could have sworn this used to have a status of "Coming Soon." Please, please, please create an option for this.

    Good idea it will help.

I would support a configurable option here, so that a journal can decide whether revision options should expire on the due date or not.

I totally agree! The expiration of the revision submission links creates a constant need to check and update the revision due date, leaving confusion about the "real" due date. This also creates potential problems for both the authors and us if an author tries and fails to submit a revision via an expired link before we have had the chance to extend the due date.

There should at least be an option to add some buffer time...give the authors one deadline, but keep it open a few extra days afterwards. Make it optional and configurable. Would cut down on a lot of Admin work!

I couldn't agree more.  Managing the fallout of people accidentally submitting a revision as if it were a new submission because they can't find the 'submit revision' button is a real pain!
