The autodecline email sent to the reviewer if stopped when reviewer agrees post autodecline email is queued up would eliminate any confusion and delay in the peer review process. In one of my journals, reviewer received both autodecline email as well as another email stating that review was now due (as he agreed and did not submit the review); the reviewer came back stating that as he already received autodecline email; he did not work on the review and needs more time; thereby delaying the entire process.
