Increase number of reviewers viewed per page

Listing only ten reviewers in the Reviewer List with the recent implementation of pagination has decreased efficiency. We now have to flick between the pages to find who the agreed reviewers are, view a specific review while the review process is ongoing, grant extensions, unassign, etc.

E.g., before, if a reviewer requires a deadline extension, we could just run a simple browser search for the reviewer name. Now we will have to run a search on each page until we find them. It now takes longer and decreases overall efficiency.

Avoiding gateway timeouts is of course a vital measure, but it would be very useful if the number could be increased, e.g. 20 reviewers per page.

It would make more sense if the recently invited reviewers are shown on the first page & the agreed/overdue reviewers are shown with a hyperlink on the numbers at the side panel where the no. of invitations, no. of agrees, no. of returned reports etc. are shown.

There should be some filter options to show only agreed reviewers/Returned reviewers and so on.

Since the system automatically returns to page 1 whenever a new reviewer is added to the list, having to repeatedly choose the page from the drop-down menu is rather laborious. Additionally, it is quite challenging to remember which reviewers have already been invited. Finding the review reports or unassigning reviewer both take a lot of time because we have to look through every page.

Please undo this updation as it is very time consuming and impedes the normal flow of work.

The time has increased to perform the task of reviewer selection and invitation as we have to navigate the entire list. If the pagination is removed, it will help to process papers for peer review quickly.

The time commitment and difficulty of choosing and inviting reviewers have grown due to this new functionality. Navigating the list to avoid inviting the same reviewer to the manuscript again is really difficult.

Listing only ten reviewers in the Reviewer List with the recent implementation of pagination has resulted in so many additional issues and made the process tedious for editors. Kindly reverse the same as it is more time consuming and disrupts our usual workflow.

We are unable to invite all the selected reviewers at once using the "invite all" option. It only invites the reviewers present in a particular page.

When we add a new reviewer to the S1, it goes back to the first page of invitations, and we have to go back and forth navigating the pages to check if the selected reviewer is added to the list or were already invited in the past.

We cannot see the reviewer's responses in one go. It is crazy to keep navigating the pages. Kindly look into it asap.

Ideally, I'd like to see pagination removed if possible but failing that 20-25 reviewers per page would help.

We would like to suggest a few changes in the Pagination on Reviewer List following the Q4.2022 Release

    - Show also at the bottom the link to change page (as for reviewer searches)

    - Remain on the search page and don’t go back to the first page every time a reviewer is invited/selected.

    - Automatically shift to the first page the reviewers once they have agreed instead of having to change the order of the list manually.

We hope that some of these suggestions will be feasible. They will definitely improve the procedure and shorten the time needed for inviting reviewers.

This is not an enhancement. Quite the opposite, in fact. Please reverse the change or make the number of reviewers on each page configurable.

The new update is consuming extra time for every action.

The page goes back to the first one whenever reviewer is selected, and we have to again go through all the pages to invite moreover navigate more than one page to invite all the selected reviewers.

Please reverse this as it takes more time and breaks the usual workflow.

There are a few more issues as listed below with the new format of invitations.

    • I am unable to invite all the selected reviewers at once using the "invite all" option. It only invites the reviewers present in that first sheet. Then I need to switch to the second sheet and click on invite all to invite the reviewers present in the second sheet. Also, when I add a new reviewer to the sheet the ScholarOne goes back to the first page of invitations and I have to go back and forth to check if the invited reviewers have been added to the system or not. It will be helpful if we can go back to the previous format or show the number of poor-quality abstracts.

    • It adds the same reviewer twice. Since we are unable to see the list of invited reviewers we can add the same reviewers twice as it doesn’t stop the admin from re-add the same reviewer who has already responded. If we are taking this format then the system shouldn’t allow the user to add the same reviewer again.

Please reverse this update or make it a configurable option to those sites that really need it. It is simply not practical for the majority of us.

Please reverse this ASAP or provide an option to change the display number ourselves.

This is increasing the time to list reviewers to check if previously invited and finding agreed reviewers for chasing.

1 reviewer agreed, 48 declined. I now have to load 5 different pages to find which reviewer actually agreed and to see when it is due or if it's overdue. This is crazy land and must be fixed.

Please, STC, change this! I am trying to invite more reviewers for a paper right now and am going crazy that I every time I find someone, I have to load 3 separate pages to see if they were invited already! I do not have a photographic memory and do not want to take a screen shot of each page.

Lots of complaints about this now whereas before it seemed to be working perfectly fine. Not sure this was a thing that needed fixing. Any chance of putting it back how it was? it's making it much harder to see who's listed and who's not and certainly much less efficient.

Not only has this decreased efficiency as the OP describes, but has made it very difficult to have an overview of the status of live invitations. This very easily leads to over-inviting.

It also makes the process of adding new reviewers more difficult because you cannot view the full Referee List and see who is already listed.

Please revert this pagination option! It has made this already difficult process harder for us admins and our Editors.

I totally agree with Elaine Ellerton's comments . At least let us choose whether we want to load them all or 10 at a time!

I know only loading 10 reviewers speeds up loading times per MS, which is great. However, we often invite 30+ reviewers and only being able to see 10 at a time and having to reload the page each time to see 10 more is untenable. Please give us the option to load all reviewers from that page and not just 10. I have to be able to see how many are still waiting for an accept/decline response, need to see what the reasons were for declining without keeping it in my head as I go from page to page, need to be able to search the page to see if I invited a reviewer already...many many reasons. 10 at a time is just not going to work and will add so much time to my workload!
