Any update on using non-ancient TeXlive versions?

Is there any update on supporting non-ancient TeXlive versions? The relevant ideas are marked as archived [1,2], but don't seem to be resolved.

Nobody wants to use a 9 years old, outdated system like TeXlive 2013, and usually, nobody does. E.g, Overleaf even doesn't support 2013 any more, and many people are using that.
