Time out pop up warning notification

Editors and reviewers complain that they do not get a warning when the web page times out. One reviewer is particularly irate as he was spending time writing his review. When he went to submit, the page timed out and all his work was lost. I know that on explorer a time out warning pop up does appear, however I do not ever recall seeing this on any other browser that I use.
