Problem:
On Double Blind sites, author responses to reviewer comments on revision cannot automatically be attached to emails.
Instead, AEs have to download the file and re-upload the files which takes a significant amount of time when doing this multiple times a day.
Solution:
Reviewer reports can be attached directly, so why not author responses as well?
Could there be a configuration option that means author response to reviewer comments can automatically be attached to emails just as reviewer comments can be.
There are workarounds such as not allowing authors to make attachments and to ask them to attach as sup files, but we believe this adds more time and administrative complications for authors.
Some of our board members also require very specific responses from authors in PDF format with line by line responses etc.
