Create a shared portal from 2 or more live S1M sites

There are societies whose publications created isolated S1M sites long ago, and now want to merge all their live sites under the same shared portal, so that their users can use the same account through them all.

We are aware that it's possible to create a shared portal with sites that are not yet live, or even, to merge a live site to a non-live site, but the idea would be to join 2 or more live sites in a shared portal, sharing the same user database.

    It would be great to be able to develop custom reports across these 'merged' sites as well
