I discovered today that it is possible for an editor to add an author as a reviewer on their own paper. The system shows you the red warning that this person is an author, but it does NOT prevent you from selecting the person. As a result, an editor missed this warning and invited an author to serve as a reviewer on their submitted manuscript.
Please make this a HARD STOP instead of just a warning. The option to add them to the list should be grayed out entirely.
