if UK users enter 'UCL' but are referring to University College London' in the institution field, the drop down list only expands to show UCLA options.
Furthermore, while it is helpful to include departments, it might 'litter' the list making users give up and just stick with the free text entry anyway.
Is there a way to add weighting on search results based on user location? and can it prioritise the institution name at the parent level and allow the user to drill down further by department if they want to?
With the improved searches UCL now shows as the first option when searching for UCL as opposed to UCLA.

Hi Sven,
That sounds great - looking forward to it. I have in the past often given up and used free text entry, precisely because as Rae says, the multiple departmental options clutter the list. It would be much better to have the institution (on its own, without any department) as the first result in the list.

Hi Rae,
We're making improvements to the Ringgold search in 4.24. It works MUCH better now. We've also updated some filtering issues ahead of the release.
Thanks,
Sven
