The ability to add a Reviewer Invitation Reminder 3 or 4 would help maintain efficient turnaround times for submissions. It would not be necessary for all journals, but a useful addition for many.
For example:
- Journals which are hesitant to auto-decline reviewers could configure three or four invitation response reminders. This would allow for the time to auto-decline reviewers to be increased and for auto-decline to function as a final option, rather than a first resort if no response has been received after a few weeks.
- If an editor wishes to manually remind invited reviewers after a set number of days, an automated reminder email sent to the editor would be very helpful. This would prompt them to send a manual reminder and would be much more efficient than tracking the reviewer response time by hand.
Agreed and could they be moved to the same places as all the other reminders?! The location is odd.
