Scheduling consolidated follow-ups to editors

There are limitations to scheduling reports with overdue tasks/consolidated action items for editors that prohibit a wide use of scheduled reports for this purpose.  It would be great if there was a way to schedule consolidated emails to editors at a preferred frequency.  This function should be flexible so that one can filter and organize data to include the desired data in the emails in the same way you can create a report.
